Every time I go to school I see a trophy case and in the case there is a trophy that has the word valor. This trophy was for the best player of basketball for the excellence of scoring points in a game. I never understood that word until one of my teachers were talking about it. Later then, I finally understood the meaning of the word which means, a comrade that sarcifices himself for a person or people from a grenade. Everytime I pass by this medal it makes me think how many soldiers sarcificed themselves to save other people.
The Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest honor for an American to receive in the United States of America. This medal of Honor is so high that the President of the United States has to slaute to the Soldier that won the medal. When a soldier has received a Medal of Honor he or she gets a lot of respect from other soldiers or regular people. Every person to receive the medal of honor they seem to be heros to others that will do anything for respect.
This is one of the medals that is very hard to receive just like that. It takes lots of courage, loyalty, and duty to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. One of things that it takes to get it is you risk your life to save others in the war. The soldiers that receive this medal of honor goes beyond call of duty or stands up to fear and puts his/her body on the line.
"Sometimes I think it was easier winning Congressional Medal of Honor than it is to wear it."
Recipiants that wear this medal have said this quote. To be this is just to put more attention to yourself then it should just be. The person that won this medal is just a medal and that people shouldn't make a big deal of it. But it is also a way to say thank you for your service in the military we thank you very much.
The Congressional Medal of Honor is awarded and worn to the bravest people in the United States.

Dear Master Sergeant Nicholas Oresko,

My name is Edgardo Nicolas I am a student in Farragut Career Academy. I am writing to thank you for your service and sarcfice for the fight of our country. One benefit that I appreicate is that you defended this country from the Germans. Also that the soldiers are doing there job correctly and efficient. This impacted in me personally that you were shot and barely stood up. But ofter you throw the graneade and killed the people in the bunker. I wish for you that you enjoy your days of Independence with pride. I hope that you enjoyed your years in the military service. I want to say thank you for all your hard work and sarcfice that you put in this nation. Our thoughts and feelings will be in all of our hearts.

Nicholas Oresko

The President of the United States in the name of
The Congress takes pleasure in presenting the
Medal of Honor
to
ORESKO, NICHOLAS

Rank and organization: Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, Company C, 302d Infantry, 94th Infantry Division. Place and date: Near Tettington, Germany, 23 January 1945. Entered service at: Bayonne, N.J. Birth: Bayonne, N.J. G.O. No.: 95, 30 October 1945.
Citation:
M/Sgt. Oresko was a platoon leader with Company C, in an attack against strong enemy positions. Deadly automatic fire from the flanks pinned down his unit. Realizing that a machine gun in a nearby bunker must be eliminated, he swiftly worked ahead alone, braving bullets which struck about him, until close enough to throw a grenade into the German position. He rushed the bunker and, with pointblank rifle fire, killed all the hostile occupants who survived the grenade blast. Another machine gun opened up on him, knocking him down and seriously wounding him in the hip. Refusing to withdraw from the battle, he placed himself at the head of his platoon to continue the assault. As withering machine gun and rifle fire swept the area, he struck out alone in advance of his men to a second bunker. With a grenade, he crippled the dug-in machine gun defending this position and then wiped out the troops manning it with his rifle, completing his second self-imposed, 1-man attack. Although weak from loss of blood, he refused to be evacuated until assured the mission was successfully accomplished. Through quick thinking, indomitable courage, and unswerving devotion to the attack in the face of bitter resistance and while wounded, M /Sgt. Oresko killed 12 Germans, prevented a delay in the assault, and made it possible for Company C to obtain its objective with minimum casualties.
Thank you, Nicholas Oresko for defending your platoon and being brave to go solo to the bunker and killing the Germans with a grenade. You brought hope to your men and will have done the same for you. Congratulations for receiving the Medal of Honor.

His words, My Response, and Poem!

His Words

"Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free at last!"

This is important to me because if I were one of them I would feel complete and accepted for who I am and what I would do. Being free will make my dreams come true and not throw them away and let the rich white folk take the chance of my dream. Dr. Martin Luther King he would fight for chances of a African American would be free he just wouldn't stop. This makes me proud that there's someone making a difference in the world and in history we are not alone and probably never will be. This are a couple of reasons why this important to me.

People were cheering for when he said "Free at Last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are Free at last!" This speech made at of people be confident of Dr. King he was being heard. He will never be forgotten.

My Poem

What happens to a dream floating?

Does it get wet?

Like a fish

or a starfish like a person taking a swim.

Does it drown like a boat being sunk?

Or stays and stays

Like the water

Maybe it will get toron to pieces.

Like a fish being killed by a shark.

Or does it keep floating on?

There American Dreams!

I am going to interview my mom Maria Cabrera .
I can't interview my father because he is in Mexico
getting stuff work out. I am going to ask my mother
couple of questions. I am going to translated what my
mom is saying so the people can understand.

What was your American Dream when you set foot in U.S. soil?
To find a place to live with your big brother Diego and so your brother can get a good education and to get my papers work out so I can get a good job. Also for your brother to be a resident and then a citizen in the U.S.A.
What kind of job did you want to have?
I wanted to be a cashier worker because I like to be in a public place.
Did my brother become a full citizen in the U.S.?
Yes, he did, he married his girlfriend Sandra Lopez and she help your brother to fix his papers.
Did you meet that dream?
Yes, I did I work in La Chiquita and I been working there for 15 years.
Did your son Diego get a good education?
Yes, he did he is going for his Master Degree for Engineer. I just need my other son Edgardo to get a good education as his brother.
Did you get your papers work out to be resident?
Yes, my papers were work out because your brother fix my papers so I can be a resident.
If you can get another job in the U.S now that you are a resident what will it be?
I want to be a person that works in an office for a government because I am getting tired of being standing up for 9 hours straight in the cashier.
Now that you are resident is there any other goals or dreams that you want to be accomplished?
Yes, I want to learn how to drive and be able to speak English so I can commuicate with other people in the country or in the phone.
Did you learn how to drive?
Yes, I did I took a class for driving and it took 3 class so I can learn how to drive. I was so happy that I got my driver's license in the first try.
Did you learn how to speak English?
I learn a couple of words but not a lot so no, I didn't learn how to speak English, but I am not going to give up on my goal.
So there are a couple of questions I asked my mother she has been working hard to accommplish her dreams. It was about time she accommplish to be a resident because I didn't want my mother to be deported because I will very sad and devastated and broken. I think that this The American Dream!

We are there to stay!

President Bush wanted to put a wall in the border of Mexico so
immigrants don't come in. Later the government busted a bunch of people
that worked in factories and my dad was getting scare. It was a good thing
that my dad didn't get busted. If my dad would have been caught me and my
mom would have been devastated.

There is 1.2 million immigrants that are going back to where there
came from. At first I thought that my dad was going to be one of those
people but it wasn't. The president shouldn't be deporting immigrants the
government needs as here.

Other people say that immigrants should go back to where they came from. I sometimes agree because I see people liter and mess up the neighborhoods and I don’t like to see that. Also sometimes I want to order something by phone and I need to repeat it about 4 times. I get pissed out that I have to repeat myself more times I like it when I say it once and that’s it. This is why I like for the immigrants to go back where they came from.

One's immigrant story

I chose this video because it has a lot of emotion and crying like it says in my paragraph. This video talks about why Juan's parents came to this country undocumented, and how he feels seeing his parents suffer from the government's treatment against immigrants. This video help me by what this kid is feeling by comparing him to me because my father is aalso in Mexico.

Completion

I finally collected all of the seasons of "Friends". It took me a while because I needed to store some money so I can purchase the dvd. When I got home I saw Friends I spent 10 hours watching Friends non-stop. People that I've toll this they went shocked because I wasted 10 hours watching my show. I started liking this show about two years ago my brother was watching it, and there was a character named Chandler Bing that was being funny and that's when I started watching and liking this show. Now my brother and I sit in the living room and watch Friends for 3 hours straight.

There were 10 seasons in total that's about over 200 episodes of friends and over 5000 hours of excitement, funny, and emotional. This show has thought me things that can and will happen in real life. Sometimes this show can be a bit heavy meaning rated (R) but it can teach you things and how to get a girl especially Joey. He always brings a girl to his apartment and Chandler is justing listening because he doesn't have the guts to ask a girl out. In season 4 Chandler asks Monica out and they do go out. Overall this is one of my goals that I was really happy to have been completed. I probably recommend you to try to watch this show on TBS or WGN.

The story of Joey Carlson

My name is Joey Carlson i was born in Atlanta, Georgia. i 'am 21 ears old i was kidnapped when i was five years old. My parents were trying to find me and I was scared and since then i have not seen my parents. i work with a bunch of slaves in a plantation picking cotton. I've been a slave for 16 ears and they have not ben so great. i had to get up 5:00 in morning to work. My master was a very bad man his name was Carlos Koslov he whipped the slaves 20 times but the whip had nails in the ends.

One day i was working in the field when i forget to pick up ten baskets of cotton and take then to the master's house. The master came to me and hit me with a stick in the head i was unconscience. After about three hours i regained conscience and my master got the whip and hit me five times in the back. i was bleeding alot and one of the other slaves put rags aroung my back. A week later i had like 10 scars in my back and they were long and still painful i couldn't bend as good before i had the scars. My master toll me that i still have to work he didn't care if was in pain.

My master whipped all the slaves as me. Some slaves try to kill the master but someone tells the master and kills them or him. Since the day i was whipped i had horrible dreams of my master whipping me, and the others and just imagine the nails in your back no one can help you if they did they will be killed. I watch how a friend of mind was getting whipped i can feel the pain that he is going throw. Then my master saw me watch the whipping and one of the slaves brought me to the master, and started to whip me.

One day i started to plan my revenge to kill the master. The day came the master was coming out of the restroom and i whipped him in the face and then i whipped his chest and two of the nails when in the boby and i rapidly took the whip of and pull out his skin. The master die and all the slaves were free and i was reuntied with me mom where I found her in Alabama.

My lowest value

The thing I value the least is my father's ford mustang. I say this because he thinks that I'm going to crash it, drive crazy with it and and lift it to over 80 miles per hour. My mother also will not let me use the mustang because she knows what I am capable of doing with it. If my father will ever let me use the mustang I have to prove to him that I drive like him.
This all started when my brother was 16 years old. My brother took out my father's mustang without permission. He thought that he can be mr. badass until he was caught by my mother. My brother got pale when my mom was right behind him checking out if he parked the car exactly like my dad. My mother told my brother before she caught him to tell her the truth that he was taking out the car. My mom was so mad at him she toll my brother bad words and get out of my house.
This is how it started with not able for me to use my father's car. My brother and I fight about who will get the car when my father pass away. From what I think I will be the one who will get the car. If I do get to use the mustang I will like to one of my parents to come with me. But for now this will be the thing that I value the least.
